ArchiveGrid

Too impatient to mess with this one.  Probably because I wasn't looking for any documents in particular.

AncestryLIbrary

Did some digging on myself and family.  Need to spend more time searching deeper.

NetLibrary

I found myself really liking this resource.  I read portions from books on bullying and one one rural schools.  I might have to return to this resource more often.  I didn't look at any children's level books so I don't know how it might help at an elementary setting.

Wrap Up

My biggest discovery is that it's never too late for an old dog to learn new tricks.  I had never "blogged" before and got messed up in that process but thanks to the overseers of this project I got back on track.

I plan on asking my library/media person to demo these to my staff.  I also plan to make an FAQ binder with the handouts for these resources to have available to staff.

Thanks for the opportunity to learn some new resources and a new way of learning.

Learning Express

I feel this resource has potential for use with my staff.  Have forwarded the information about it to them.  Even took a practice test--and did quite well.

World Book online Encyclopedia

Enjoyed the graphical interface.  Have forwarded the information to my teachers.  Hope to see more use of online resources in the next school year.

Netlibrary

I couldn't get logged in to this resource.

Gales Virtual Reference Library

I read someone else's entry about using Proquest to read up on her husband's illness so I did the same with this resource.  Found some down to earth medical articles on my husband's illness that flared a couple of years ago.  Wish I would have been directed to this source then so I could have researched that illness in a way that made sense.

SIRS Researcher

I am a principal so I quickly connected with the topic of bullying which appeared on the first screen.  The video clip was informative.  I found an article on the 5 Myths of Bullying which I intend to share with my other administrators since this has become an ongoing subject in schools.

SIRS Discoverer

I am playing "catch up" with the resources in this library challenge.  I went to SIRS Discoverer and typed in "tsunami".  I was impressed with how recent the articles were.  I saw one entitled "How Stuff Works" and found it to be a brief article about preparedness for disasters.  With April being emergency preparedness month I thought it would be a good article to use with 5-6th grade to talk about what to have in their homes to make it through the first few days of a disaster.

World Cat

My library paraprofessionals feel this site will be helpful for those hard to find books.
